Lonna Rae Gage, 67, Sioux Falls, died Saturday, January 30, 2016, at the Dougherty Hospice Home in Sioux Falls.
Private family services will be held later.
Lonna Rae Knight was born May 23, 1948, to William and Gladys (Carter) Knight. She was raised and attended school in Brookings where she also graduated from Brookings High School. In 1967, Lonna married Kenneth Steuerwald and had two boys, Rick and Chad. The family moved to Sioux Falls where Lonna worked at various jobs including day care and nursing home care. In 1974, she married Harold Gage and to this union, another son was born; Troy. Lonna and her family moved around and lived in several places in the US including California, Michigan, Arizona, and several places in South Dakota. In 1988, Lonna resettled permanently in Sioux Falls.
Lonna was always there to support her kids. She went to everything they were involved in including softball games, school programs and listening Troy sing karaoke. She loved her pet cats and dogs, Jimmy Johnson and NASCAR, Dallas Cowboys, and playing Scrabble and other board games with her friends. Anyone who visited Lonna, would also notice she loved to decorate her home and seasonally coordinate her home with matching bedding, shower curtains, and nick-knacks.
Lonna will be deeply missed by her sons, Rick (Crystal) Steuerwald and Chad (Casie Reiners) Steuerwald, Sioux Falls; two grandchildren, Chase and Rylee; and two siblings, Lois (Carol) Nevill, Aberdeen and Dennis (Jan) Knight, Rapid City.
Lonna was preceded in death by her son, Troy; her parents, William and Gladys (Carter) Knight; and one brother, Don Knight.
Rest in peace Lonna. Sorry for your loss Rick, Chappy, and families.
